A few wildlife images from around the Reserve this past weekend. The bramble flowers are out in large numbers as are Large Skippers, now seen around the borders of both meadows. Meadow Browns and Ringlet common, other butterflies also seen this past weekend, - White Letter Hairstreak which has been seen in various locations, Red Admiral, Large White, Small Tortoiseshell, Brimstone, Small Copper and Common Blue. The wild flowers are really coming out now, complimenting the Orchids and attracting a huge variety of insects. For me, this time of year is pondering what might turn up next - Dark Green Fritillary close by, reports of Marbled White's, Dingy Skippers, Small Skippers locally, the Purple Hairstreak...... The latter fascinates me, I haven't even photographed it....yet.

Ben Rhydding Gravel Pits this past Weekend
The progressively cool and wet Summers from 2010-12 boded badly for butterflies throughout the UK but last Summer was a good one and this year they seem to be continuing their recovery. I have recorded 16 species of butterfly around the Reserve during the past Month, and about 70 species of birds - including a rather nice sighting and photograph of a Little Egret I have also been taking images of other types of Wildlife, Flora and Fauna etc and would welcome some help with identifying some species!
